LATHER (INTERIOR SYSTEMS MECHANIC) handle, erect and install materials that are components in the construction of all or part of a structure. They lay out and install framework for ceiling systems, interior and exterior walls, floors and roofs. Lathers install various types of ceilings, shielded walls and sheathing products. They also perform acoustical installations. Performing tasks:

  • Performs safety-related functions and common occupational skills.
  • Erects framing: non-load and load-bearing steel assemblies.
  • Installs wall, ceiling and flooring systems and components.
  • Installs sound barriers, lead radiation shielding and smoke and fire barriers.
  • Installs insulation and membranes.
  • Installs exterior finishes.
